Earl Nightingale

Earl Nightingale (March 12, 1921 - March 25, 1989) was, in my opinion, one of the great American motivational speakers and authors, known as the “Dean of Personal Development.”

Lead the Field” is a series of six discs comprised of mp3 audio tracks for 12 separate sessions.

The following has been taken from the Nightingale-Conant web-site:

“Hundreds of thousands of people have profited from the wisdom and savvy of Lead the Field!

In fact, it has often been referred to as the “Program of Presidents” because so many top executives have incorporated Earl’s guidance and wisdom into their management philosophies.

When you listen to this landmark program you’ll be awestruck by the simplicity and timelessness of Earl’s words and ideas.

  • Double your mental capability
  • Recognize and easily overcome the biggest stumbling block to high achievement
  • Dramatically improve your luck by changing one simple thing
  • Make success unavoidable with an easy 3-minute-a-day exercise
  • Assess your potential worth, and start increasing it now

Lead the Field has arguably changed more lives and created more millionaires than any other program Nightingale-Conant has produced.”

The “Lead the Field” audio series constitutes a wealth of Earl Nightingale’s wisdom and can be played over and over again. In addition, several of his videos are available on YouTube, including The Strangest Secretand The Boss, and are well worth watching as well.

Author Katrina Kenison reads from her latest book The Gift of an Ordinary Day: A Mother’s Memoir in this YouTube video.

As parents, we may feel that the tension between us and our teenage children is unique, despite the fact that our friends may relate virtually identical stories with respect to their children. » Read the rest of the entry..

Defining “Consciousness” presents a great dilemma in that we all know we are conscious yet, despite hundreds of years of thought by some of the world’s greatest philosophers, a concise definition of what defines the state of “Consciousness” continues to elude us.

I have incorporated a fascinating set of YouTube videos featuring Peter Russell presenting his view of Consciousness comprising a fundamental aspect of the Universe, equivalent to space, time and matter. The videos comprise a single presentation by Peter Russell, divided up into 7, approximately ten minute clips. » Read the rest of the entry..

A brief lecture by Murray Gell-man as another installment in the great line of TED Talks.

Murray Gell-man is one of the great names associated with the investigation of Quantum Theory, specifically theoretical particle physics, and his presentation is a mere 16:02 minutes. The presentation is light-hearted, easy to follow for the layman and emphasizes the role of “Beauty” and “Elegance” in evaluation of any given theory and the universality of Natural Laws, as opposed to man-made “Natural Laws” (i.e. the Law of Attraction”). » Read the rest of the entry..

A short presentation by Alain de Botton on success.

He first discusses the idea of a “meritocracy” in which members in society are graded according to merit. Those who have the merits to be successful, become so while those who don’t have such merits are not as successful, or even fail. » Read the rest of the entry..

I just came across this YouTube clip of Anthony Robbins talking about The Power of Beliefs and Convictions.

I found it fascinating, particularly around the 1 minute mark when he is summarizing material from a discussion with Bernie Siegal about his research in which the physical characteristics of schizophrenic patients changed as they switched from one personae to another! Utterly fascinating!
