One of my personal idiosyncrasies is that I have difficulty listening to generic meditation audios, particularly those intended for mental programming.  They are either, necessarily, generic and general or they are instructional, neither of which is particularly conducive to my addressing my specific concerns or issues.

I am not suggesting that there is anything wrong with commercial programs intended for the mass market. I personally use The Silva Method and have both their Life Accelerator and Ultramind ESP programs as well as several programs on the Silva Method from Nightingale - Conant.

However, I have recently been looking into a means of producing my own meditation or, more specifically, mental programming audios specific to my needs. At first, I looked at Aviary, (which provides the potential for layering multiple audio tracks into a single recording. It is limited, however, to a maximum of about 3 minutes which is very short for a mental programming exercise.

I have, subsequently, found Audacity. (Note: there appears to be a download glitch on this page and so I downloaded it here). It is freeware software package that seems as though it will fit my needs.

In Silva’s “Life Accelerator” program, they provide the “Alpha” audio, which has a very brief introduction and about twenty or so minutes of a rythmic beat at a frequeny of about 10 MHz - the Alpha frequency.

What I have done initially is to take one of the exercises (Module 7) and clip off the “Entry” and “Closing” portions.  They “Entry” is the portion of the technique that takes you down into the “Basic Level”, while the “Closing”, obviously, brings you out of your levels.

So, using the Alpha sound as background, I am recording the “Module” specific to my needs. Once complete, I will insert the Entry and Closing components to my recording and export it to an mp3. I will, therefore, have an audio, using the Silva Method technique, specific to my individual need.

I suspect this same technique, using Audacity, could be used by others for their respective needs. You might want to look into this software and explore its capabilities for your needs.

Let me know if, and how, it works for you!
