The Silva Method
As is the case with all meditation techniques I have used and/or read about, the Silva Method is simple. And, being so simple, the problem is believing it can be so powerful.
It is, in a nutshell, a meditation technique that provides a procedure for programming the sub-conscious, much like you would with a computer. The conscious mind works during your waking hours whereas the sub-conscious mind works 24 hours a day, whether you are awake or asleep.
The Silva Method can be separated into it’s component parts in analogous fashion to a computer algorithm, comprised of the host program and the component module(s) desired, depending on yourrequirements.
The host program is simply a process of relaxation, relaxing the body and mind, using a countdown from 3 to 1, intended to take you from the outer conscious (Beta) level to the Basic (Alpha) Level by relaxing the body (3), relaxing the Mind (2) and entering the Basic level (1).
Mental Programming
After a 10 to 1 deepening exercise, you are ready to program affirmations for self-improvement and/or success, then implement a “module”. Modules might include Sleep Control, Healing, Dream Control or any other diverse form of mental programming. Once finished the “module, you may either re-enter the Conscious level or pass on to sleep.
Affirmations
While “At Level”, you have the ability, and are recommended, to “program” your sub-conscious mind. The Silva Method utilizes the following core, generic affirmations for self-improvement. This, however, does not restrict you from developing and programming your own Affirmations instead, or in addition to, those listed below.
- My increasing mental faculties are for serving humanity better.
- Every day, in every way, I am getting better and better.
- Positive thoughts, suggestions and images bring me benefits and advantages I desire.
- Negative thoughts, suggestions and images have no influence over me at any level of my mind.
- I have full control and complete dominion over my sensing faculties at all levels of my mind, including the outer conscious level. And this is so.
- I energize and maintain myself in a healthy way, physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally.
- I will always maintain a perfectly healthy body, mind and immune system.
Modules
At this point in the technique, you are ready to implement the desired “module”. Prepared modules available include Sleep Inducement, Dream Control, Mental Alarm Clock, Headache Elimination, Healing, etc., all of which are relatively simple.
However, the technique is much more powerful than that, though, and this is where you, as the practitioner, have the opportunity to develop your own module for your own requirements.
Developing Your Own Modules
On the SilvaUltraMind System web-site, there is “Free Audio and e-Book Training” (upper right) available. As part of this package (I believe), is included the Alpha sound. If not available here, it is included in the packages available for purchase (Note: I am NOT an affiliate for SilvaUltraMind Systems).
Alternatively, I came across the free software program “Audacity” which alows you to generate a sound file. Using the average Alpha frequency of 11 MHz, you can generate your own Alpha sound. Using either the Alpha sound from SilvaUltraMInd or your own, you now have a base track on which you can build your own module.
Personally, I have made a transcript from my copy of the SilvaUltraMind System exercises and have cut the “Opening” and “Closing”, which are consistent from exercise to exercise, so a sto make a template. I can hten make a new module, specific to me and for a given situation, layer it onto the Alpha sound using “Audacity” and then splice it back into the Template. I now have an Alpha session specific to my needs at any given time and can listen to it passively through my iPod.
That, in summary form, is it! Again, because it is so simple, it is hard to believe the potential power of the method.
Most of us don’t have a filter to the daily sensory input that bombards us. Without some form of filter, you passively allow the world to program your sub-conscious (much like a computer can be infiltrated by anyone without some form of firewall or anti-virus software).
By becoming aware of the power of the sub-conscious, you should develop a greater appreciation of the care you must take to provide suitable content as input for it. First and foremost, consciously monitor your self-speak, the manner in which you talk to yourself.
As a convert and believer of the power of the sub-conscious, I consider this to be the most significant step in my own path to personal development / self improvement. I actively and consciously strive to monitor what I say to myself and others, particularly friends and, most importantly, family. For instance, a friend or family might do something “Stupid” but that does not make them “Stupid”. The careless word, when applied to someone you care for, can have devastating effects, particularly if they don’t have a mental filtering program to deny it access to their sub-conscious!
